La Patissiere is a Durham-based cakery owned and operated by cake artist, Nazia Farooq. Her lifelong passion for art and chocolates (and everything sweet and beautiful) is what initially spurred on her interest in cake decorating. Endlessly watching YouTube videos and learning all the ins and outs of cake decorating led to her choosing cake designing as a career. She eventually sealed her career path by graduating with honors from the Baking and Pastry Arts Management program at Centennial College, with a vision to one day own a brick and mortar establishment, teaching and employing single mothers, in order to be able to give back to this under-served segment of the community.
